Supporting Learning in Practice (SLiP)

The module aims to develop the supervising and assessing skills of registered health professionals who are supporting learners in a practice setting. Successful completion of the module will result in the learner being eligible to be entered on the local and corporate Practice Assessor registers as required by the professional bodies and as per university requirements for health professionals who support and assess pre-registration health professionals undertaking practice placements.

New regulatory Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment were introduced in 2018, these include new roles for supporting learning in practice – including replacement of Mentor and Practice Teacher roles with Practice Supervisor and Practice Assessor. Practice Assessors are required to be prepared for the role.

The SLiP course has been mapped against the standards for the Practice Assessor role and so will prepare staff for both the Supervisor and Practice Assessor role.

Entry Requirements:

Applicants should discuss access to this course with their manager and Practice Based Educator prior to booking.
