The Care Certificate is a 12 week programme for all newly appointed HCA / unregistered clinical assistant’s.
It has been designed to help you understand the expectations of your job role and ensures you have the skills and knowledge to be able to work alone without support or guidance from your colleagues. It builds on the Common Induction Standards (CIS) and National Minimum Training Standards (NMTS) and sets out explicitly the learning outcomes, competences and standards of behaviour that must be expected of a HCA / unregistered clinical assistant ensuring that you have the skills and knowledge to consistently provide compassionate and quality care.
The Certificate also reflects how these behaviours are underpinned by the 6Cs (care, compassion, competence, communication, courage and commitment).
Although the Care Certificate is aimed at all new HCA / unregistered clinical assistant’s, existing HCA / unregistered clinical assistant’s should complete it to refresh or improve their knowledge.
You will be expected to complete the Care Certificate within 12 weeks of starting employment. Completion of the Care Certificate includes assessment of knowledge and observed practice.
