Registered nurses work in the public, independent and voluntary sectors. This is a regulated profession and the standards for proficiency are set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
Successful completion of this apprenticeship will meet the education requirements to see registration with the NMC.
This is a part-time top up programme delivered by Teesside University. It is open to applicants who already hold a level 5 foundation degree to enable them to gain the Registered Nurse degree apprenticeship over a 2 year period. Apprentices will spend 2 days per week in their usual role, 1 day in theory and 2 days supernumerary as a student. Upon completion of the course, you will be proficient in the delivery of complex nursing procedures to sustain the highest standard of professional nursing and patient care. You will be accountable for your own actions and for those to whom you delegate and you must be able to work autonomously.
Entry Requirements:
Applicants must:
- be contracted to work at least 30 hours per week.
- Have English and Maths at GCSE grade C (4) or above (or equivalent).
- Under recognition of prior learning (RPL) apprentices must be awarded up to 50% credit through the Nursing Associate or Assistant Practitioner apprenticeship. Other experience may be considered.
- Demonstrate the appropriate values and attitudes for the programme in line with the NMC values and behaviours through an interview with the employer and University.
- Have a satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure.
